Family and Personal Portraits

For me, the most successful portrait is one that captures the spirit of the person or persons being photographed. This is achievable when the subjects are with people they love, in settings that are important to them or doing something for which they have a passion . In my experience this is almost impossible in a studio where the results will be technically perfect but are usually a little uninspiring. My approach is to keep a watchful eye, the camera ready at all times and to employ subtle post production editing to create a truly personal photograph.
